Master Mechanic
Long-term maintenance position, locals encouraged to apply!
The right candidate must have four years’ experience with NCCER Plus or 5 years verifiable boilermaker experience with a passing Starcon Craft Test. The work sites consist of oil and gas refineries, chemical plants, fertilize plants, paper mills, Power and boiler houses, and other types of industrial settings.

Responsibilities
You will be required to perform a variety of duties depending on the job scope. You will be subject but not limited to perform work on the following equipment:
- Heat exchangers – disassembly; bundle pulling and replacement; tube rolling; shell, head and bundle repairs and alterations; reassembly and performing hydro, nitrogen and pneumatic test on these systems.
- Towers and drums - blinding, opening, clean and inspecting; making internal repairs by way of buffing and/or grinding; tray removal and replacement; packing and ring replacement, nozzle replacement, etc.
- Assisting in the blinding, bolting up and testing old and new pipe systems.
- Performing work on heaters/boilers by way of burner replacement, internal repairs, convection repairs and tube extractions and replacements.
- Grinding, hammering or use of flame cutting equipment to shape irregular edges of sections of structural parts or facilitate fitting edges together.
- Valve replacements.
Required Skills
You must have previous experience with the following skills:
- Ability to plan work activities ahead of work pace
- Tray Bar installation
- Advance knowledge of tray removal and installation
- Advance knowledge of removal and installation of heater tubes
- Advance knowledge of boiler installation including steam drums and mud drums
- Roll, cut and extract exchanger tubes from a tub sheet / Installing Plugs
- Advance knowledge of layout skills
- Sound knowledge of rigging skills
- NCCER certified Boilermaker preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of reading and working with P&ID’s

- Always be in compliance with all of Starcon and clients’ safety and quality control procedures.
- Work in a team effort with all team members in order to reach a common goal.
- Be willing to assist other crafts when directed such as pipe fitters, welders, riggers, etc.
- Starcon CBT Rigging / Piping qualifications.
Work Environment
- The work environment will require you to work in SCBA, special protective PPE specific to the unit and working at heights.
- Extended work hours may be required.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be physically able to carry up to 50 lbs. of tools and/or material.
Pay Range
$32.22-38.09
